Through a new program this fall, we are hoping to strengthen the marriages of couples of all ages in our parish. It is called “Ten Great Dates” because for each of the next ten months a Saturday will be designated as “date night”. Couples will first view a short video concerning a marriage topic, and then have time to go out to dinner and discuss the video’s message and its implication for their relationship. (Child-care will be provided.) You may register for the program after Mass this weekend, or use the form available on the website or at the Parish Office or the Information Center.

For the past several years our Peace and Justice Committee has collected donations for school supplies for low-income kids in Frederick. These donations are distributed through the principals at three local public schools, and each year we receive letters expressing deep appreciation for these efforts. Please leave your donations at the gift card table in the Gathering Space between now and Sunday 12 September.

Our annual parish picnic at Clover Hill Park is typically a glorious fall day, and a great way to transition from the summer mindset into the busyness of autumn. It will be held on Sunday 12 September and everyone is welcome! We only ask that you bring a side dish, and sign up in the Gathering Space over the next two weekends so that we can be adequately prepared. You are encouraged to offer your assistance to help setting up and cleaning up. Don’t miss this opportunity to spend an afternoon with fellow parishioners!

Since our initial gathering of senior members earlier this month, a coordinating committee has met twice to continue planning. I wish to thank Michael Sincevich and Jan Scudiero for becoming co-chairs of this planning group. More information will follow in coming weeks.
