We celebrated the feast day of our patron Saint Katharine Drexel in grand fashion this weekend with our annual Drexel Ball at Dutch’s Daughter. In honor of Katharine’s dedication to education, the Ball supports our scholarship program (as well as our Building Fund.) Many thanks to all who assisted in any way, especially to Kevin Sayers who acted as our DJ for the evening. It all wouldn’t have happened without the efforts of Laurie Vaudreuil, whose perseverance and hard work created a wonderful evening for all, and made the Ball a success!

We have a good number of people (both adults and children) who have been preparing over the past year to enter the church at the Easter Vigil. Please remember them in prayer during this Lenten season. We are especially grateful to Larry Lavery and his RCIA team who are working with the adults in formation, and to Trish Bodine who is working with the young people.

Even as the suffering in Haiti continues, yet another earthquake strikes in Chile! Thank God, because the building code in Chile is much stricter, the loss of life there has been much less. When we sent our check to Catholic Relief Services to assist the relief effort in Haiti, the final total was $11,800. “Merci beaucoup” from the people of Haiti for your caring generosity!

This week at our Friday Lenten meal and prayer we are trying an experiment. We will be offering fish platters and sandwiches for sale rather than our usual simple meal of soup and bread. If you have not done anything special yet for Lent this year, consider joining this Friday night experience of community and prayer, where families are welcome and childcare is provided. Many thanks to our Knights of Columbus (led by chef Dave Wilson) who work hard in the kitchen each week
to provide delicious Lenten meals each Friday of Lent.
