Father Keith Boisvert - Pastor - St. Katharine Drexel |
Rev. Keith W. Boisvert (Fr. Keith) is the oldest of four children and lived his first six years in Rhode Island (his father Rudy’s home state) before moving to Maryland (his mother Dorothy’s home state). Fr. Keith was educated in Baltimore, and attended Saint Dominic Grade School, Loyola High School, Saint Mary’s Seminary College (B.A.), and Saint Mary’s Seminary & University (M.Div.). Fr. Keith was ordained for the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1979 and served at two parishes in the Baltimore area (Saint Pius X and Saint Anthony of Padua) before becoming the Director of Campus Ministry at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg. The sudden death of a pastor (with a building under construction) then led him to minister at Saint Joseph parish in Hagerstown for one year until being assigned to start a new parish in Frederick. Fr. Keith lived at Saint John the Evangelist Church for several years during the initial start-up of the new faith community, and was named the pastor of the newly-created parish of Saint Katharine Drexel in 2005. He continues to provide pastoral leadership for this 831 household faith community as parish ministries continue to expand and new parish buildings are being designed and constructed. |
Our Vision: “It is an exciting and daunting challenge we have taken on: to form a modern Christian community in an ancient faith - to become the Living Body of Christ in a secular society - to embody a Catholic tradition in a pluralistic world. Thanks be to God that the Holy Spirit is promised to us for strength and guidance. We have an inspiring role model in Katharine Drexel. She is recognized now as a saint because she was a woman of worldly wealth who embodied Christ and the Catholic tradition for the poor, the outcast, and the forgotten of society at the beginning of the 20th century. Our task as a new parish is to discern how we will do the same at the beginning of the 21st century.” “Together as a parish we will chart a course to follow Christ as Katharine did. It is a great privilege for me to join together with you in that pilgrimage of faith.” --Rev. Keith W. Boisvert |
