The Knights of Columbus was founded by Father Michael J. McGivney of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut to render financial aid to members and their families. The Connecticut state legislature officially chartered the organization on March 29, 1882. Our founding principles are charity, unity and fraternity. |
In 2007, we celebrated our 125th anniversary. Today, there are approximately 1.7 million members in over 13,00 councils throughout the United States, Canada, the Phillipines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Guatamala, Guam and Saipan.
