The “Initiation Sacraments” are Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. For Catholics who begin their process of initiation through Baptism as infants, and then receive their First Communion during elementary school, their initiation into the faith is typically completed through celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation in high school. Knowing that today’s high school students have busy lives, our parish Confirmation preparation process is designed to be as flexible as possible. It can be completed in one year, or stretched out over several years, depending on the needs of the individual student. If you would like to join our Confirmation preparation process, please attend one of the information meetings coming up in September, or contact pastoral associate Ana Maria Alvarado in the Parish Office for more information.
Becky Mathsen has shared her talent at the sewing machine for so many years with our faith community. Most recently she created a beautiful pall to be used at funerals when the deceased has been cremated to cover the urn. Thanks once again, Becky!
A two-sided bulletin insert this weekend details our year-long calendar of parish social events. Throughout the year we schedule activities to help bring us closer together as a faith community, so please keep this insert posted at home for future reference. Thanks to Sherry Snyder who keeps this all organized and running with such enthusiasm!
Our parishioners are often in the newspaper, and (thank God!) usually not on the “Frederick’s Most Wanted” page. Joe Parsley was recently featured for receiving a Cornerstone Award for business excellence and commitment to the community. Joe and his wife Gloria were specifically cited for their generosity in Frederick as foster parents. Congratulations, Joe!
I am in touch with a parish family that is hoping to adopt a child. If you are aware of an infant that might be available for adoption, please let me know.
