November holds a special place in church tradition as a time to remember our deceased loved ones. You are invited to use the form in this bulletin to submit the names of family members and friends who have died during the past year, so that they can be included in a Litany of Remembrance to be prayed at all Masses on the weekend of 2/3 November. Those who are longer deceased will be able to be listed as intentions on the All Souls envelope (received in your envelope packet) which will be placed on the chapel altar for weekday Mass during November.
Our Drexel Essay Contest each year attempts to introduce the inspiring legacy of our patron saint Katharine Drexel to the next generation of our parishioners. The winning essayists receive a $1000 college or $500 high school scholarship. Contest rules are in the bulletin as an insert this weekend. To enter the contest, please obtain an application form from our website or the parish office. Completed essays will be due in the parish office in mid-January.
Please remember that the second collection next weekend is for our sister parish in Ennery, Haiti (St. Hubert). Our Haiti Fund supports our commitment to stipend six lay catechists for the outlying missions of our sister parish ($7,200 total per year)– and we are also sending additional funds to assist with the installation of new church roof supports with your generosity. The newsletter insert in this bulletin offers more information about our sister-parish relationship.
Our Gift Card program generates a lot of cash (from the vendors–not you!) to help pay our monthly mortgage. If you are planning to use gift cards as Christmas presents or stocking stuffers this year, please consider using the order form in the bulletin this weekend to purchase them. Forms are also available on our website and at the gift card table after Mass. Gift card orders are due in the Parish Office by Monday
25 November to ensure Christmas delivery.
