This week we are celebrating the three-year anniversary of the dedication of our church building on Monday. Just this past weekend, former parishioners (who used to worship in the school’s gym) visited the new church for the first time and were amazed at what they saw. My thanks to those who generously contribute each month to help us make our mortgage payment on our new building.
Margaret Moos is coordinating our “Almost Christmas” Pageant again this year, helping children to learn the real “reason for the season”. You can register your child(ren) to participate over the next two weekends in the narthex, and everyone is invited to the pageant on Sunday 15 December at 7:00 PM.
The season of Advent begins on 1 December. For the next two weekends we will have a display of Advent wreathes, candles, books and calendars after all the Masses. Also, please be aware that you may order gift cards to use as holiday gifts or stocking stuffers and help our Mortgage Fund. Forms are available on our website and at the gift card table after Mass, and orders are due in the parish office by Monday 25 November (to ensure Christmas delivery).
It is rare to have the three Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) issue a joint statement, but this occurred in October when these major religious bodies spoke with one voice concerning “end of life” issues. The statement is included as an insert this weekend for your personal reflection.
The Knights of Columbus are grateful for your support last weekend of their Tootsie Roll campaign, which allowed them to donate almost $750 to L’Arche Frederick. We are grateful to the Knights who recently checked all the church kneelers for loose screws. Thanks to the members of our pew screw crew: Bob Knieval, Dick Duthoy, Frank Pissano, and Bob Morrow.
On Monday we give will thanks for the selfless service of all veterans. May you know God’s blessing!
