I hope that you are enjoying quality time with family and friends during this holiday time. It takes many creative people to make our parish celebrations of the Advent/Christmas season prayerful and inspiring. Many thanks to the coordinators of our liturgical ministries for their leadership throughout the year. We are also appreciative for our musicians and decorators for the way they add to the beauty of our worship space. I’m very grateful to our parishioners who reflected at Mass on how they have learned to “Expect the Unexpected” in their lives during the weeks of Advent. And thanks to the Knights of Columbus who led the rosary before Mass and assisted with parking at the 4:00 PM Mass on Christmas Eve.
Anne Marie Cloud started a new SKD Crafters group this year—and they have been meeting regularly in order to offer their seasonal items for sale before Christmas. Because of their efforts, a $1020 donation has been made to the mortgage fund! Thanks to Anne Marie as well as Roxie Casaregola, Maria Zaldumbide, Carol Marraccini and Beth Leskuski for helping to lighten the load of that monthly payment.
Next Saturday is the first Saturday of the month, and that means all children’s ministries will be available during the 5:00 PM Mass, and childcare is available until 9:00 PM (with a reservation).
The December issue of the Catholic Review had an article about Jesuit Fr. Sumeth Perera (in residence at the rectory) and how he brings together the worlds of faith and science in his job at Fort Detrick. It is reprinted in this bulletin in case you missed it.
You are cordially invited to our New Year’s Eve Interfaith Celebration to begin 2020 in a spirit of hope—the concert of peace begins at 7:30 PM and the Prayer Service at 8:00 PM. A Holyday Mass for the Feast of Mary, Mother of God will be celebrated on Monday 1 January at 10:00 AM. Happy New Year!
