Third Sunday of Advent

Dec 15, 2019

On Sunday night this weekend, the children of our parish will treat us to an “Almost Christmas” Pageant and lead us into the spirit of the season of Christ’s birth.  We thank all the children who are participating, as well as Margaret Moos and her other assistants for their dedication in preparing this annual presentation for our parish.

Regional opportunities to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation are listed on a bulletin insert this weekend, including both communal services and times for individual confession. Many priests will be available at each service for confession, so please consider attending of one of these opportunities as a way of preparing spiritually for the feast of Christmas.

Ward and Heidi Sproat recently spent a few days painting to add some color to Drexel Place, the Parlor, and the Reconciliation Room.  We thank them for sharing their talents and for doing such a nice job!

The flags decorating our narthex have been donated over the years by parishioners to remember their country of origin.  A form in this bulletin invites you to have your country represented in time for our celebration of Epiphany in January.  On that form, you can also offer your services as a lector or cantor in a language other than English on that weekend.

Through your generosity, we went over our goal for the Annual Appeal (a report is in this bulletin).  And so we receive a rebate, supporting our mortgage payment, as well as St. Michael Indian School (AZ), the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, our outreach to immigrants, and our sister parish in Haiti.  Thank you!

When planning your family Christmas activities, please consider attending our 9:00 PM Christmas Eve Mass.  Two years ago, we moved the time back to 9:00 PM, hoping to lure some people away from the very crowded 4:00 PM Mass.  Perhaps coming to Mass after dinner later in the evening could make it special and become a new family tradition for you?
