This weekend we join the national observance of World Marriage Day, and a special blessing of all married couples will occur at each Mass. Thank you for your example of God’s love in our midst. Please see an insert with all those celebrating a special 5-year wedding anniversary during 2020 and extend your congratulations when you see them.
The country of New Zealand consists of a north and a south island. This weekend we are concluding our tour of the southern island (including the city of Christchurch) and beginning our tour of the northern island. We will finish the tour in the city of Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. I will be flying back to Maryland on Friday– see you next weekend!
Our annual Drexel Ball is scheduled for Saturday 29 February at the Delaplaine in downtown Frederick and promises to be a great evening, including delicious food stations, a DJ, and games of chance—so get your friends together and help support our scholarship fund and our mortgage fund. Every weekend in February in the narthex you are able to enter (1) a big 50/50 raffle and (2) another raffle to win two free tickets to the Ball. To enter this second raffle, simply donate (the minimum of) a $20 gift card or a $15 bottle of wine, and you receive a “free” raffle ticket. Two free tickets will be awarded at each weekend Mass. We are also seeking Silent Auction items, and so more information is available elsewhere in this bulletin.
“Good Catholics immerse themselves in the political process,” says Pope Francis. One easy way to do this is to join the Maryland Catholic Advocacy Network (CAN). CAN is an email network that keeps you updated on current issues and puts you in direct contact with local lawmakers to share your views, especially during the current session of the Maryland General Assembly. You can find more information on the website of the Maryland Catholic Conference at mdcathcon.org/joincan. Let your voice be heard!
