I’m sure you are experiencing the present time in our lives as very strange—as am I. At our Liturgy Planning Committee meeting this past week, we were discussing whether we should order Easter flowers. At our Pastoral Council meeting, we were wondering how we will pay all our bills with no weekend Mass collections coming in. At our parish staff meeting, we pondered all the implications of future scheduling when the future in unknown…
At this point we are continuing to schedule and plan until it becomes clear that things have to be cancelled. This changes daily, of course, and so because I am writing this (and the weekly bulletin is being prepared) several days before you will receive it, things may have changed by the time you read this. And so thanks for your patience and understanding during this difficult time we are all sharing together.
This was supposed to be the kick-off weekend for our first-ever Lenten Parish Mission, with the Mission leaders preaching at all the Masses, and the Mission activities continuing into Monday and Tuesday of this week. We are hoping to be able to reschedule the Mission for later this year and will let you know.
Saint Katharine Drexel sponsors a co-ed adult softball team in the Frederick County Summer Church League each year, and the team can always use new members. Please contact Bob Eaton (whose contact information is elsewhere in this bulletin) if you would like to join—perhaps this will be OK by this summer?
Please remember in your Lenten prayer our three catechumens who are preparing to enter the Church at the Easter through the Sacrament of Baptism: Bryan Halterman, Troy Phillips, and Stacey Varga. Many thanks to the members of our RCIA team who have nurtured their faith in Christ and their understanding of the church throughout this year. This will be something else that may need to be rescheduled, but it will definitely happen!
