On Friday evenings during Lent we gather for a simple meal (the parish provides the soup, you bring the bread) at 6:15 PM, followed by various forms of Lenten prayer at 7:00 PM. Perhaps Friday evenings could be one way your family might observe the Lenten season, and also do something together as a family. Many thanks to our Knights of Columbus who are preparing the soup each week!
If your parish group or committee would like to use space in any of our buildings during the next fiscal year (starting in July), please submit your space requests by 27 March to Kathy Tolino in the Parish Office, as we will soon start working on our building-use calendar for next year in collaboration with Saint John Regional School. Facility Request Forms can be found on our website under “Volunteer Schedules”.
Our Volunteer Appreciation Party is planned for Saturday 18 April and I hope you will sign up over the next few weekends after Mass. It is inspiring to realize how many people are involved in so many different ministries in our faith community, and this annual event expresses gratitude for that dedication.
The Easter flowers that grace our altar area for many weeks in the spring are always a welcome sight after the starkness of Lent. Please use the designated envelope in your packet sometime this month to help us decorate in the joy of the upcoming resurrection season.
Parents of children in Catholic Schools will want to take note that the deadline for applying for tuition assistance for the 2020-21 academic year is 31 March. The parishes in southern Frederick County collaborate through the Frederick County Parish Tuition Assistance Fund, and the monthly collection for Catholic School Education goes directly into this fund. Last year over $149,000 in assistance was awarded.
We received a note of gratitude for all the items collected for the Emergency Family Shelter throughout February, and so thanks to all who cared in this way!
