Dear Fellow parishioners,

We have begun a Holy Week unlike any other. I really hoped we would have returned to our “normal” life by now. That is not the case, so we must stay positive and look for creative ways to pray and stay connected. I would encourage you to carve time out for prayer to remember these most holiest of days. Even though we won’t be sitting next to one another in the pews, I know we will be connected as a faith community through prayer and the wonders of technology.  If you weren’t able to join us for coffee & zoom on Palm Sunday, please consider it in the future.  It was wonderful to chat and catch up with parishioners.

Below are some resources for families to help you pray with your children as we enter into Holy Week and devote time to the Passion of Jesus Christ.

Catholic Family Crate is offering Holy Week Kits free of charge this year. I reviewed the material and think you will enjoy the activities.  Follow  this link  to receive materials.

I’ve used this Holy Thursday video to start a conversation about the example Jesus gave to us and what it means to serve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=bv5ajWNrnt4&feature=emb_logo

Our Children’s Stations of the Cross program on Good Friday was adapted from the following links.  You can print a Stations of the Cross booklet from https://www.catholicicing.com/printable-stations-of-cross-for/

and the keepsake items given out as they prayed  each station can be found here: http://4real.thenetsmith.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3140&KW=stations+of+the+cross+box&TPN=2

Most of the recommended keepsake items are things you most likely have around the house.

I would suggest printing the booklet and watching with one of the videos below to pray the stations with your child(ren) and give the keepsake item to represent the station.

This video is appropriate for elementary age children to pray the stations.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0qv7c4PsrA&feature=emb_logo

For middle school age children I would recommend the Stations of the cross from The Word Among us: https://wau.org/resources/article/re_stations_cross_kids/

Although this will be a very different Holy Week, I pray it will be a meaningful time for you and your families.

I look forward to seeing everyone very soon.
