Hello SKD Family

It’s incredible to think about our journey away from church so far. I know most of us wish that we could go back to how it was before, but I also think of the ways that COVID has made some things better. My grandfather who lives in a different country has never been able to experience a birthday with either of my children and yet for my daughter’s 3rd birthday the 95-year-old joined us over zoom. I have seen parishioners who have not been able to enjoy mass with all of us for a while checking in on YouTube, Facebook, or even coffee and zoom. It makes me think that there are some things that we might want to keep. Are there things we are doing as a parish that you feel we should keep even after this Pandemic is over? Or what should we continue even as the phases continue to allow for more interaction?

Youth Ministry Update

We continue to meet with middle, high school, and young adults on a weekly basis. We are looking to adding some activities as the summer rolls around. Feel free to share ideas that include social distancing that you think might be good for our youth.

Confirmation classes are on-going. Contact me if you would like more information on what is going on and when we are meeting.

Photo Project

I finally have enough photos to continue our project. Please enjoy the video.

We are still looking for pictures of our kids wishing the Church a Happy Birthday. I need these by this Friday.

Did You know?

As I was putting the video together, I was inspired by our song and remembered that there is a saint for joy! And, as it turns out, his feast day was just yesterday (26 May). Philip Neri was known to not take himself too seriously. He would wear his clothes inside out, he engaged in crazy pranks, read joke books, and played the “clown” in general. He felt that, “A joyful heart is more easily made perfect than a downcast one”. When he was having a hard day he would pray, “Let me get through today, and I shall not fear tomorrow”. So, if you are having difficulties getting through the day, or if others just don’t appreciate your Dad/Mom jokes as much as you do, remember and pray for the intercession of St. Philip Neri. If nothing else maybe he will inspire you with better jokes.

God Bless
