Happy Tuesday!

Our Adult Faith Formation Committee “met” on Zoom on Sunday and there were some wonderful comments about the gratitude our parishioners had shared who are participating in our online formation opportunities.  Our recently concluded online course with the University of Dayton was well received and our two Bible studies that converted to zoom at the beginning of this crisis wrapped up to rave reviews.  Our current zoom book study has nine parishioners reading “Mystical Hope” and having thought-provoking conversations about this wonderful little book.  I am deeply grateful to Don Henderson, Mary Pat Nagle, Vinny Veich, Katie Zanchettin, Pat O’Connor, and Amy Kulesa for helping to provide these opportunities to our parish!

Don’t worry if you missed the opportunities I just mentioned though, because we do have a new book study coming up you may be interested in joining:

“Hope of Glory” book study starting 15 May

Join us on Zoom as we discuss and reflect on the intimate spiritual writing of Jon Meacham in “The Hope of Glory: Reflections on the Last Words of Jesus from the Cross.” A Pulitzer Prize winning historian and biographer, Meacham offers a combination of rich historical and theological insights to his personal reflection and the true heart of the Christian story. These sayings epitomize the message of Jesus: forgiveness, grace, love, mercy, doubt and assurance, trust. We will meet on Wednesdays at 7PM, beginning on 13 May and will discuss after the introductory prologue, one chapter (4-5 pages) each week. Purchase of the book will be necessary. For more information and to sign-up, contact Pat O’Connor at pat.oconnor@saintdrexel.org or 973-615-3131.

Also, coming up this weekend:

Baptism Prep Class this Sunday at 1:00 PM

Our monthly baptism class is coming up this Sunday at 1:00 PM on Zoom. We are unsure when we will be able to celebrate Mass and hold baptisms again, but we are still holding out prep classes so that once we can regather our families will be ready to present their children for baptism.  If you would like to attend the class please email me at bmccrohan@saintdrexel.org to receive the access link.

And lastly:

If you have been missing the opportunity to attend daily Mass or if you find yourself needing some daily comfort in this time of crisis I would encourage you to transport yourself to the Vatican for the Pope’s daily Mass.  Each day he celebrates Mass at Santa Marta and it is available to view on the Vatican YouTube Channel.  Check it out!
