Dear Friends in Christ,

All three weekend Masses (Saturday at 5:00 PM, and Sunday at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM) are now available, both in person (at church) and on-line, as a weekly time of worship for you and your family.  The dispensation (from Archbishop Lori) from the obligation of attending weekend Mass is still in effect.  And so if you are unable to, or perhaps uncomfortable about, returning to Mass in person, please worship on-line by clicking here on our parish website www.saintdrexel.org/ or on our SKD YouTube channel where you will find all of our weekend Masses.  If you have children in your house and would find a Children’s Liturgy of the Word helpful, please use the video resource here.  Thanks to our children’s leaders who are providing this resource each week.

As you have probably noticed in the mortgage collection report in the bulletin, proceeds from gift card sales help to pay our mortgage each month.  Archdiocesan guidelines do not allow us to sell gift cards in the narthex at this time, and so we have developed an alternative process.  In the bulletin this week you will find an insert with the new process described and an order form.  This information is also be available on our website.  I use these gift cards regularly to buy groceries and gasoline, and I invite you to do the same.  Thanks so much to all those who are helping to pay the mortgage in this easy way!  If you’d like to review all the other information concerning our parish and it’s gradual re-opening, please click here for the weekly bulletin.

Social Activities is looking for volunteers to coordinate the Parish Picnic in September, Interfaith Service on New Year’s Eve and the Easter Egg Hunt in April 2021. They have taken good notes and have all the information needed to run the events.  It’s a great way to meet other parishioners while at the same time making a great contribution to our parish life. For additional information or to volunteer contact Sherry Snyder 301-471-7723 or sherry.a.snyder79@gmail.com.

Our parish staff developed this “Katharine Konnection” to keep our parishioners connected when everyone was prohibited from coming to Mass each weekend.  We will keep using the “Katharine Konnection” idea as a means to keep in touch with you concerning important information.  But now that parishioners are able to return to Mass, it will become a more occasional piece rather than the daily item it was during the closing of the church building for worship.  We hope you found it helpful during those strange three months.

This weekend we have the opportunity to say “thank you” to all fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, and foster fathers—and so “Happy Father’s Day”!

Fr. Keith

P.S.  There is no Coffee & Zoom this weekend.
