Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Aug 2, 2020

We have been blessed for many years as a faith community with a talented team of pastoral associates who are very dedicated to their ministry.  For all of us, I express deep appreciation to Brian McCrohan, Ana Maria Alvarado, Theresa Anderson, and Alexis Zabsonre for their generous service to our faith community throughout the past year.  A listing of ministry responsibilities for the coming year is included this week as a bulletin insert so that you know who to contact for various programs.  There are increased challenges in coordinating parish programs in this COVID-19 era, and so I ask your continued prayers for the efforts of our pastoral staff.

Our Knights of Columbus Council (and Katie’s Ladies Auxiliary) faithfully serve our parish in many different ways, and we are so grateful to both groups.  This weekend they celebrate the installation of new officers, and we congratulate Ray Vidal as he is installed as the Grand Knight.  Please call the parish office if you would like more information about joining the Knights of Columbus (or Katie’s Ladies Auxiliary).

I am often asked about my vacation reading list, and so I started this year with “Home” by Julie Andrews, a memoir of her early years.  This was followed by “Jesus and the Eucharist” by Jesuit Tad Guzie, a book I had read years ago and wanted to re-visit.  I read a few chapters from John Bolton’s recent “The Room Where it Happened” just to get a sense of his message.  And I finished with two wonderful novels set in Australia (in honor of our recent parish trip).  These were “The Light Between Oceans” by M.L. Steadman, and “The Lost Man” by Jane Harper.  I recommend them both.

If you haven’t yet returned to weekend Mass in person, I extend an invitation to join us.  We practice strict social distancing, and it is probably safer than going to the supermarket!

Fr. Keith
