As you probably notice in the mortgage collection report in the bulletin, proceeds from gift card sales help to pay our mortgage each month. Archdiocesan guidelines do not allow us to sell gift cards in the narthex at this time, and so we have developed an alternative process. In the bulletin you will find an insert with the process described and an order form. This information is also available on our website. I use these gift cards regularly to buy groceries and gasoline. Thanks so much to all those who are helping to pay the mortgage in this easy way!
We recently had our monthly orientation for new parishioners—albeit on Zoom because of COVID-19 restrictions. I’ve been amazed that even during the pandemic we have had new parishioners at each of our orientation sessions! Once again, people related how they were attracted to our faith community because of the diversity of our parishioners, and the welcoming spirit they experienced upon visiting for worship. I want to offer gratitude to those who are intentionally attentive to creating this spirit of welcome for others, as the results are regularly apparent in these sessions.
In the past, used clothing dropped off in the blue bins in the narthex would be taken by our volunteers to the Frederick Rescue Mission. Because of pandemic restrictions on volunteers, however, they are not able to receive clothing donations from us right now. This is unfortunate, as I heard many people were cleaning out their closets during the pandemic shutdown! We will resume this opportunity as soon as we can, but ask that you not bring clothing donations at this time.
I’m happy to report that, during the pandemic, we have been able to continue work on some projects made possible through the Finishing Touches Campaign. You can see photos of the new “Creation” mural in the Kate’s Kids room on the front cover of the bulletin this week, and we are now finalizing the designs for the remaining icons in church. More on this soon…
