Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sep 13, 2020

An outdoor Family Movie Night (behind the school building) will take the place of our annual Parish Picnic this fall and is scheduled for this coming Saturday night featuring the film “Mary Poppins Returns”.  Cartoons start at 7:00 PM and a concession stand will be available.  Bring your chairs and blankets (and masks while walking around!) and spread out on the lawn for a safe and relaxing event with your faith community.

Our annual Ministry Fair has been a fall staple of parish life since the beginnings of our parish at the Frederick Community College theater.  It has been a way for ministries to recruit new volunteers, and parishioners to discern how to be involved in their parish.  It was scheduled for next weekend, but like so many other of our rituals, it will be postponed until we are permitted to hold such gatherings.  If you would like to become involved in any parish ministries at this time, or need information, please contact Stuart Henderson on our parish staff.

While the State of Maryland has moved into Phase Three concerning the COVID-19 restrictions, allowing 75% capacity for churches, we continue to be limited to 30% by Archdiocesan regulations.  We actually find that with normal social-distancing protocol (using only every other pew and keeping households six feet apart in pews), we can only accommodate about 25% of our normal capacity.  I will let you know if we receive new guidance from the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

You’ll see on the front cover of the bulletin this week that we now have a weekly Kid’s Bulletin available on our parish website which aims to assist our children to understand the Sunday scripture readings, along with saint’s stories and other activities.  I encourage parish families to take a look!
