Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sep 27, 2020

So many of us either have been, or currently are, caregivers for family members.  This is often emotionally and physically draining, and we can feel overwhelmed.  A bulletin insert this week offer information about an on-line class for family caregivers, teaching you how to care for yourself so that you can better provide for your loved one.

We generate funds for our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party through our Holiday Greenery Sale each year.  We have had very good responses in past years concerning the quality of the greenery, so please use the form available in this bulletin and on our parish website to place your order, which will be delivered just before Thanksgiving.

Sunday 4 October is the Feast of Saint Francis, who led the people of his time into a greater reverence for all of God’s creation. In his honor, we will celebrate the annual Blessing of Animals next weekend on Sunday at 1:00 PM on the church plaza.  Please invite your neighbors (of any religion, or none) to bring their pets for a blessing– all are welcome!

As we learn more about the transmission of the novel Coronavirus and receive updated instructions from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, we continue to make changes to our parish protocols when we assemble for Mass.  Last weekend I announced that our regular restrooms were re-opening (with certain social distancing limits in place), and in the next several weeks we will announce other changes that help us to sense that we are getting back to “normal”.

I have been amazed that even in the midst of the pandemic, we have continued to have people at our new parishioners orientation session each month.  Similarly, we continue to have people come forward who would like to become Catholic.  If you know of a friend, neighbor, or family member who would like more information about the Catholic Church, use the information about the RCIA program in the bulletin.
