Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time

Nov 1, 2020

Our annual Memorial Mass to honor family members and friends who have died during the past year will be held in church on Thursday evening 5 November at 7:00 PM. If you plan to attend, please RSVP (as indicated on the bulletin insert this week) by this Monday 2 November.

Voting for our Pastoral Council elections is now underway and will continue until Sunday 8 November.  The candidates’ resumes and photos are available on our parish website.  I hope you will review them prayerfully in order to vote for our future parish leadership in an informed manner.  If you are unable to vote online, please call the Parish Office for a mail-in ballot by this Monday 2 November.

The second collection next weekend is for the improvement of the historic cemetery that is located in the grove of trees west of the large parking lot.  We have been planning to develop this area as a prayer garden (with a labyrinth and benches and restored headstones), and to construct a columbarium for parishioners who wish to inter the ashes of their loved ones on parish grounds.  Unfortunately, the pandemic has slowed our work with a cemetery designer to develop a concept for the area, but this collection offers additional funds as we continue to move forward.

Our parish office has received some comments from parishioners whose health may be compromised and are concerned because some sitting around them are not wearing their mask properly.  Please show your “love of neighbor” by wearing your mask in the correct way to protect the health of others.  A bulletin insert this week offers more information.

Many thanks for your generosity in the Haiti collection last weekend, as well as your generous response to our mortgage collection. We are also grateful to Rosemary Piraino for coordinating the 40 Days for Life effort this fall, and to all those who joined in the mulching project on Saturday morning!

Fr. Keith
