I encourage you to make sure you observe the Season of Lent in some particular way.  We’ve offered prayer booklets and rice bowls and a variety of Lenten Friday prayer opportunities.  There are weekly times for Eucharistic Exposition listed on the purple bulletin insert, and a time to pray the rosary together each week in the chapel.  Many parishioners are using the Daily Examen as a format for daily prayer at home.  And one additional thought– perhaps the Lenten season is the time for you (and your family) to start returning to Mass in church—especially if you have been fortunate enough to receive your vaccine!

Some parishioners have asked for resources for praying the “Daily Examen” at home.  Two books which may be of assistance to you are easily available on-line (with limited copies in the church narthex): Sleeping With Bread (by Dennis, Sheila, and Matthew  Linn) and Reimagining the Ignatian Examen (by Mark Thibodeaux SJ).  We will send out a Katharine Konnection in the future with more information about both of these helpful resources.

Thanks to all those who have made a gift or pledge to the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries this year.  In addition to benefitting our sister-parish in Haiti and St. Michael’s Indian School in Arizona, it’s increasing our Building Fund—so please help us reach our parish goal again this year.  Pledge envelopes are available in the church narthex and the parish office vestibule—and may be on your desk at home!

The judges have finished their deliberations, and the winners of the annual Drexel Essay Contest this year are: Mia Venezia ($1,000– college), Josie Bean ($500– high school), and Ernest Binfon ($500– high school).  While we usually have only one high school winner, the judges could not decide between the top two essays, and so we have two winners this year.  Thanks to all our judges and our young people who participated to honor the feast day of our patron saint!

Parish Lenten Opportunities

This Thursday at 7:00 PM will be our first Zoom Weekly Examen.  Gather together with fellow parishioners to share the ways that God has raised you up during the week and the ways that life has brought you down.  This is a great way to take our personal daily examen practice and deepen it while supporting each other in community.

Every Thursday at 7:00 PM

Zoom Sessions this Week

Centering Prayer This practice of contemplative prayer helps us draw our attention from the ordinary flow of thoughts to an inner silence receptive to the presence of God.

Every Sunday at 4:30 PM

Scripture Study – Join us for a weekly scripture study through Zoom focusing on the readings for the upcoming weekend.  This type of scripture study gives us the chance to unpack and reflect upon the readings before we arrive at Mass, thus allowing us to benefit even more from our experience of hearing God’s Word.

Every Thursday at 7:00 PM
