     Feast Day Celebration in Haiti

Early November is a time of celebration in Haiti.  Just as the US becomes all consumed with Halloween and the church marks All Souls and All Saints Days, Haiti marks these days in its religious traditions as well.

Fortunately, for our sister parish, St. Hubert’s in Ennery, Haiti,  the feast of St. Hubert falls on 3 November, adding significant importance to their celebration which is recognized not only in the parish but in the region.  The church is decorated, dignitaries are invited and the pageantry is impressive.  Below is a video of the entrance procession for Mass at St. Hubert’s on their Feast Day.

Notice that while construction continues within the building, they cover that evidence with bright banners.  See the girls who usher are all dressed alike and maintain a formal attitude in their role.   The music of the choir is inspiring.  There are 8 priests and deacon for the celebration, underscoring the importance of this Mass.
