       The Katharine Konnection

Fr. Keith’s Korner

For more than a year we have not been allowed to sing in church—and its absence reinforced for me the importance that singing has for entering into a spirit of worship and praise before God.  The restoration of congregational singing is one of the gifts we have received in the most recent pandemic regulations issued from the Archdiocese of Baltimore.  Next weekend, we will also restore the offertory procession of gifts, and refill the Holy Water fountains.  So, when you come to Mass next weekend for the great Feast of Pentecost, don’t forget to wear something red, and joyfully bless yourself with Holy Water as you enter the worship space.  Unfortunately, we are still prohibited from having our annual Pentecost Breakfast—but that will give us something to look forward to next year.

We have a tradition of offering a Blessing of Expectant Parents twice during the course of each year.  Please alert family members and friends who may want to share in this blessing at the 11:00 AM Mass on Sunday 13 June—and register with pastoral associate Brian McCrohan (as indicated in the information contained in the weekly bulletin).

So many things get accomplished through the generous volunteer service of our parishioners.  In recent weeks, Ward and Heidi Sprout painted the walls of the Conference Room in the parish office, and Edi Stewart, Ray Rother, and Diane Ivans have been seen weeding and planting in the flower gardens outside the parish office.  On Wednesdays and Thursdays, you may spot Larry Jones tending the landscaping around the church building, and quite a number of other volunteers tend to all of the water gardens surrounding the church building.  Our faith community is very grateful to you all.

Don’t forget to wear something red to Mass next weekend as we wish “Happy Birthday” to the Church

Rev. Keith W. Boisvert

Zoom Sessions this Week

Centering Prayer This practice of contemplative prayer helps us draw our attention from the ordinary flow of thoughts to an inner silence receptive to the presence of God.

Every Sunday at 4:30 PM

Scripture Study – Join us for a weekly scripture study through Zoom focusing on the readings for the upcoming weekend.  This type of scripture study gives us the chance to unpack and reflect upon the readings before we arrive at Mass, thus allowing us to benefit even more from our experience of hearing God’s Word.
