A two-sided insert in the bulletin this weekend details our year-long calendar of parish social events. Throughout the year we schedule activities to help bring us closer together as a faith community, so please keep this insert posted at home for future reference. I remember how sad it was last year publishing this calendar in August, and almost all the events had “CANCELLED” stamped over them (due to the pandemic). We are not out of the Covid-woods yet, but it is certainly better. Thanks to Sherry Snyder who keeps these events organized and running with such enthusiasm!
Speaking of social events, our annual Pasta Night is coming up at the end of September, so sign up in the narthex after Mass over the next three weekends and bring the whole family. Sponsored by Katie’s Ladies, take outs will also be available that evening if you place your order in advance.
Our summer softball team was defeated in the tournament last weekend, so they aren’t bringing a trophy home for the narthex this year. But we want to thank Bob Eaton for coordinating the team (as he has done for the past several years) and also thank all those who represented our parish in the Frederick County Church Summer Softball League this season.
The Frederick Food Bank continues to be very appreciative for the generous donations from our parish each weekend. They sometimes run short of certain items, and so you will notice that we list their particular needs in the bulletin under “Social Justice Ministry” to guide your donations.
Our Drexel Voyager group is planning a Retreat Day this fall for our senior parishioners, and I think you will enjoy the presenter, Fr. Michael Schleupner. Please check the bulletin insert this weekend for more information about registering. Notice also that a monthly luncheon is planned for 9 September, so sign up in the church narthex at the Welcome Center.
