In recent weeks you may have noticed the new Welcome Desk and Information Center on the right side of the narthex as you enter the building. This has been planned since the church was constructed– but we wanted to evaluate how the narthex space functioned and how space was utilized before investing in something permanent— and so we had been operating temporarily off a folding table. Many have remarked that this new Welcome Center is a beautiful addition to the narthex, and I hope it will serve the needs of our faith community well. Please note that all “Lost and Found “ items will now be stored in this location (you may inquire at the Welcome Desk).
Katies Ladies is coordinating the “Box of Joy” project this year, providing a small Christmas present to poor children in seven countries around the world. To participate, pick up a shoe size box in the narthex during September (containing a brochure with suggested gift items) and return the box to the narthex during October. Last year, over 60,000 children (who may not have received any other gifts) received a Christmas present through this program.
As was announced at Mass last weekend, the Rescue Mission in Frederick has temporarily stopped accepting clothing donations. Because of this, please do not bring clothing donations to church at this time. There are other locations in Frederick where you can take your clothing donations (such as Goodwill). Or, we have listed a number and website in the bulletin for “gogreendrop” where you can arrange to have your clothing donation picked up at home (with a minimum amount required). We will resume our parish clothing collection when we are notified by the Rescue Mission.
The Labor Day holiday is such a beacon for change in our annual ritual as we adjust to the autumn routine. We welcome you to register for our fall Faith Formation programs as soon as possible!
