The Feast of Saint Francis, who led the people of his time into a greater reverence for all of God’s creation, is on Monday 4 October. In his honor, we will celebrate the annual Blessing of Animals next Sunday at 1:00 PM on the church plaza. Please invite your neighbors (of any religion, or none) to bring their pets for a blessing– all are welcome!
I have been amazed that throughout the pandemic, we have continued to have more people at our new parishioners orientation session each month. Similarly, we continue to have people come forward who would like to become Catholic. If you know of a friend, neighbor, or family member who would like more information about the Catholic Church, use the information about the RCIA program in the bulletin.
It has been fun to be able to enjoy social activities, like the parish picnic, once again. Another opportunity takes place next Sunday afternoon 3 October when our Knights of Columbus will hold their next Cash Bingo at 1:00 PM. You can arrive after the 11:00 AM Mass for some lunch before the games. Let them know you plan to attend using the contact info in the bulletin.
At the Parish Picnic, our Knights of Columbus presented a check for $5,000 to our parish. I’m very grateful for this gift, which will be used to cover the cost of the new camera we installed in church to enhance our live-stream Masses. Thanks to the K of C!
We have had to rebuild many of our ministries after the pandemic shut them down for over a year. Because of the new volunteers who have stepped forward, we are now able to offer our Children’s Liturgy of the Word program at both the 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM Masses starting next weekend. We are eager to support families with younger children in this way and invite you to make use of this ministry. We are still in need of volunteers for our Nursery and Kate’s Kids programs so that they can also start at the 11:00 AM Mass on a regular basis.
