Fr. Keith’s Korner

November holds a special place in church tradition as a time to remember our deceased loved ones.   You are invited to use the form on our parish website (or in the bulletin) to submit the names of family members and friends who have died during the past year, so that they can be included in a Litany of Remembrance to be prayed at all Masses on the weekend of 6/7 November.  Those who are longer deceased may be listed as intentions on the All Souls envelope received in your envelope packet (which will be placed on the altar for weekday Mass during November), or in the Book of the Dead in church.

Please remember that the second collection next weekend is for our Haiti Partnership Fund.  Last year we completed our commitment of $30,000 to assist with the rebuilding of the church roof at our partner parish Saint Hubert in Ennery. Since then, with your generosity, we have made investments in the future of Haiti through supporting new educational projects, in addition to our continuing commitment to fund the lay ministers’ stipends at our partner parish. The insert in this week’s bulletin offers more details.

Our Knights of Columbus Council asked if they could throw a free breakfast for our parishioners to thank everyone for their faithful support of our parish during the pandemic—which I thought was a great idea!  Our staff was also cognizant of various groups of people who rose to the occasion to facilitate all the special protocols required for us to worship during the pandemic.  And so, we have combined those ideas, and have scheduled a free brunch after the 11:00 AM Mass on Sunday 14 November, during which we will bestow special pandemic “Kate” awards upon representative parishioners for their service during Covid-19.  All parishioners are invited, so please sign up after Masses over the next few weekends.  We are hoping to be able to have our regular Volunteer Appreciation Party and Kate Awards as usual this coming spring.
