31st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Oct 31, 2021

The second collection next weekend is for the improvement of the historic cemetery that is located in the grove of trees between the large parking lot and the school building.  We continue our planning to develop this area as a prayer garden (with a labyrinth and benches and restored headstones), and to construct a columbarium for parishioners who wish to inter the ashes of their loved ones on parish grounds.  A report on the research concerning the identities of the 24 people buried in this old family cemetery since 1808 is being offered after all the Masses this weekend.

Please note that there are two ways during November to honor those who have died during the past year.  You can attend our annual Memorial Mass on the evening of Thursday 4 November (please register by 2 November) or you can submit names for the Litany of Remembrance which will be prayed during all the Masses on the weekend of 6/7 November (use the form in the bulletin and return by this Monday).  If you have lost a loved one recently, you may want to attend our helpful “Surviving the Holidays” seminar which will be held next Sunday at 2:00 PM.

Each fall, after the end of the fiscal year, we publish an Annual Report in order to provide a public accounting of our financial situation and a reflection on the state of our parish.  All registered parishioners will receive a copy in the mail at home, and I want to thank our parish corporators Mary Beth Clark and Steve Heine, as well as our Director of Finance Pat O’Connor, for their diligence and dedication in issuing this report each year.  We are also grateful for the design skills of parishioner Brian Zuckerman.

Many parishioners (especially young ones!) have requested a resumption of our Coffee and Donuts hour between the Sunday morning Masses.  We are looking for new volunteers for this ministry of hospitality, so if you can help, please use the contact information listed on a bulletin insert this weekend.
