The Katharine Konnection

The Saint Katharine Drexel – St. Hubert Parish Partnership Committee would like to share a letter from Father Faubert, pastor of St. Hubert’s.  SKD sent $3200 in emergency funds in August to assist with needs following the July assassination of the Haitian president and the August 14 earthquake.  These funds were used by Father Faubert to provide food to over 200 families.

Dear Father Keith, Dear Parishioners of Saint Katharine,

It is with indescribable joy that I write to you to give you some information about the parish. First, allow me to offer you my warmest thanks for all the efforts you have combined in sending money to the parishioners of Saint-Hubert. I consider this gesture to be the most important thing.  You care about us like a mother cares for her children. Many thanks for this mark of attention and it will remain engraved in the memory of more than one.

This year, in addition to the financial support of the pastoral team and students, you have helped quite a number of families buy and meet their needs of food. They feel like they have received a gift from heaven.  The parishioners welcome this help with great enthusiasm and joy and we can feel it in their spirit.  In addition, they have let me know that they have nothing to give you in return. But one thing is certain, you can count on their fervent prayer. God will return it to you a hundredfold. Many parishioners have benefited from the food through your donation. I am sending you photos to allow you to have an idea about the distribution.

(In regards to students) This year I am removing some names from the list submitted to you last year. I am adding more because there are a few of them that go to university. Thank you already for the confidence you place in me. Regarding school activities, the opening of classes is scheduled for September 22 because of the devastating earthquake which caused considerable damage.

In two months it will be the Feast of Saint-Hubert.  The faithful, as usual, are preparing for the occasion. I will keep you posted and I hope to speak to you again on another occasion.

May God bless you, give you his peace and his joy.

Father Faubert
