Fr. Keith’s Korner

Many thanks to all who contributed to the collection on Thanksgiving Day for the Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs.  Because of your generosity, we collected over $700 to support their work in Frederick County.  Thanks also to all those who have regularly remembered the poor during the pandemic by bringing donations of canned food to the blue bins for the Frederick Food Bank.

We offer a blessing of expectant parents twice each year during weekend Mass.  Please alert family members and friends who may want to share in this blessing at the 9:00 AM Mass next Sunday—and register with pastoral associate Brian McCrohan in the Parish Office this week if you plan to attend.

This Wednesday we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and this is a Holyday of Obligation.  Masses will be celebrated at 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM in our church.  Join your family of faith in celebrating how faithful Mary was in her response to God’s call—right from the very beginning.

Next weekend is the deadline for participation in our annual Christmas basket program benefitting the poor at Saint Gregory’s parish in inner city Baltimore.  Details about the program are available elsewhere in the bulletin.  Next weekend will also be the drawing for the Katie’s Ladies $500 Gift Card & Cash wreath raffle, so get your tickets soon. You must play to win!

You’ll notice in the bulletin that last weekend was the first time since March 2020 that our weekend Mass attendance surpassed 1,000 people.  After resuming Mass in June 2020, we plateaued for many months at about 400 people– 1/3 of our pre-pandemic attendance.  This year we were averaging about 800 people for many months– about 2/3 of pre-pandemic attendance.  As we inch closer to our pre-pandemic normal 1200 attendance, we offer a sincere “Welcome Home!”

An “Alternate Giving” catalogue is available at the Gift Card table to help the poor this Christmas.
