The Katharine Konnection

Fr. Keith’s Korner

Fr. Keith’s Korner

This weekend we once again welcome Fr. Michael McDermott to preside at weekend Masses while I am away.  Fr. Mike has retired from parish ministry in Nebraska and moved here to live with his sister.  He is serving as part-time chaplain at Saint John’s Catholic Prep, and also visiting the Catholic patients at Frederick Health Hospital, in addition to assisting with Masses in area parishes. We are blessed to have an additional priest in the area at this time to offer priestly ministry in various settings.

The Catholic Advocacy Network (CAN) is an easy way for you to get involved in the work of the Maryland General Assembly during their session (which recently started) over the next three months.  The network sends you e-mail alerts when legislation is pending, and even drafts a suggested response for you (which you can modify to reflect your opinion) to send to your representatives.  You can sign up on-line using the information provided elsewhere in this bulletin.

Catholic Schools Week will be observed at our parish next Sunday at the 11:00 AM Mass, and children from various Catholic Schools in Frederick County will be serving in some of the ministries at that Mass.  All Catholic School students are reminded to wear their uniforms to Mass next weekend.

For many years our parish has been a training site for those in nearby parishes who are training to be permanent deacons.  As part of a multi-year Archdiocesan preparation process, deacon interns spend one year assigned to a parish (in a limited fashion) to gain as much experience as possible.  During 2022, I will be supervising Jim Johnson (a parishioner from Saint Timothy parish in Walkersville) and ask you to welcome him when your paths cross.

Because of Covid concerns, the Frederick School of Religion is delaying classes until the spring this year.  As we often have parishioners attending, we’ll offer registration information as soon as it is available.

Rev. Keith W. Boisvert
