Let your voice be heard for the upcoming Maryland Legislative Session

Dear Parishioners,

Happy New Year!  The new session of the Maryland General Assembly will be opening next week and our social justice ministry would like to encourage you exercise your faithful citizenship by letting your legislators know your views on issues important to you.  Below are a few things you might to consider:

  1. Maryland Environmental Human Rights Amendment: A petition is in process which will be presented to the General Assembly to add to the ballot an amendment to the Declaration of Rights section of the Maryland Constitution which would guarantee that every person, as a matter of basic human dignity, has a fundamental and inalienable right to a healthful, stable environment. If you would like to read more or to sign the petition click here: Maryland Environmental Human Rights Amendment
  2. Physician Assisted Suicide:  If you would like information about how to speak out against physician assisted suicide in Maryland you can complete the online form here.
  3. If you would like to receive alerts from the Maryland Catholic Conference (the public policy advocacy organization for the Catholic Church in Maryland) about important issues coming before the General Assembly, please sign up for the Catholic Advocacy Network (CAN)
  4. If you are unsure who your legislators are and how to reach them, you can access that information here.

Blessings,

Brian McCrohan
