The Katharine Konnection

Fr. Keith’s Korner

Fr. Keith’s Korner

Our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party occurred last weekend and we had a lively crowd of our volunteers in attendance.  I always feel that this evening is a great testimony to the way we live out our mission statement of “giving selflessly in realization of the Kingdom of God.”  The parishioners who received “Kate Awards” this year are shown on the front cover of the bulletin, including Patty Cool.  In addition to her service as an usher and coordinating the reception at our New Year’s Eve Interfaith event, Patty has coordinated the food for our Appreciation Party for the last 18 years…and is retiring!  Many thanks to Patty, and to all of our parish volunteers!

Preparation sessions for children (ages 7-11) who have not yet been baptized are scheduled for this month.  If you would like your child baptized, please use the registration information in the bulletin.

If your ministry or organization is planning to use parish space during the next fiscal year, please remember to submit your requested dates (for regular meetings or special events) to Rachel Murtha in the parish Office by this Monday 2 May.  Also, please note that registration for the next Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament is due by this Friday 6 May.

As you will see on a bulletin insert, our final observance of the Archdiocesan Year of the Eucharist will be next weekend 7/8 May—and there will be Eucharistic Exposition in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel between the two Sunday morning Masses.  This is a good opportunity for quiet prayer in a busy life.

We are trying something new this year in planning a summer reading used book sale.  If you have books at home that you have already read, please bring them to Mass with you over the next two weekends and leave them in the Brockway Room. Then, on the weekend of 21/22 May, the books will be displayed, and you can shop for this summer’s reading!  A bulletin insert has more information about this event.
