Sacramental preparation sessions for adult Catholics who have not yet been confirmed are scheduled for this month, with the Sacrament of Confirmation taking place on 5 June at the Cathedral in Baltimore.  If you would like to complete your sacramental initiation into the church community, please use the registration information in the bulletin.

The Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated at all the Masses next weekend.  We invite parishioners who are seriously ill, anticipating surgery, experiencing the effects of aging, or suffering from illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, substance abuse, depression, etc. to come forward after the homily for the laying on of hands and anointing with the oil of the sick.

Part of our Haiti outreach has been helping to fund the lunch program at the elementary school “Institution Jerome Bellanton.”  Next weekend we have the opportunity to assist the students there by donating used laptop or desktop computers for their computer classroom.  Please use the information available on a bulletin insert to remove personal information before donating your computer.  Just pull up in front of church on your way to Mass next week and drop off your donation in the van parked there.

Another way to assist others next weekend is made available by our Knights of Columbus, who will be distributing baby bottles to benefit the CareNet pregnancy care center here in Frederick.  They are hoping you will return the bottle the following week with spare change or some other donation.  Don’t forget that this weekend and next you can bring your used “summer reading” books to the Brockway Room as a donation for our used book sale on 21/22 May.

This weekend we acknowledge the gift of our mothers (both living and deceased) and pray that God may bless them with peace and happiness, in return for the selfless love they have so generously shared with their children over many years.  Happy Mother’s Day!
