Fifth Sunday of Easter

May 15, 2022

It’s hard to believe that it is already four years since our last parish photo directory, as that is usually the amount of time it takes us to get through high school or college!  Children have grown, and so it may be time for a new family portrait.  We also have new parishioners who were not in our last directory.  We will have one week in both June and July available for photo sessions, and we hope you will use the link on our parish website to sign up for a photo during one of those weeks.  You will receive a free 8×10 photo and a copy of the directory when you participate–and it just won’t be complete without you!

Each year during Lent, all parish households are invited to participate in the Lenten Rice Bowl program, which supports the work and ministry of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) around the world.  This year CRS received a total of $751.04 from our parish, and we thank the forty-one families who observed Lent this year at home by remembering the poor in a special way at mealtime.

Ted and Alyce Luck have been pillars of our parish since its earliest years, and have been involved in parish life in many different ways.  They are also involved in service to the wider community, and that generous service was acknowledged on Wednesday evening when they received the Good Samaritan award from Frederick Health Hospital—its most prestigious annual award.  Congratulations Ted and Alyce!

Lots of parish projects are happening this month.  If you dropped off used “summer reading”

books to benefit the suffering people of Ukraine…

thank you!  If you dropped off used computers to help the education of children in Haiti… thank you!  If you picked up a baby bottle to aid the work of CareNet in Frederick… thank you!  Our individual actions may not seem like much, but it is the accumulation of all of our individual actions that so often begins to change the world for the better.
