The Ascension of the Lord

May 29, 2022

Our first-ever “summer reading” used books sale was a success last weekend and provided $1298 for our parish to send to aid the people of Ukraine though Catholic Relief Services.  Thanks to all those who donated books, and those who helped to organize, set up, staff, and clean up the event!

You’ll see in this bulletin that we are at 99% of our parish goal for the Annual Appeal.  You could be the person to put us over the goal by using a donor envelope you may have sitting on the desk at home– and they are also available at the narthex Welcome Center.  Thanks for helping us reach our parish goal!

The pandemic interrupted many of our ministries and we are now in a rebuilding mode. For several weeks we have been recruiting Eucharistic Ministers to serve in a revitalized program of bringing the Eucharist to patients at Frederick Health Hospital.  I’m so grateful that ten parishioners have responded, and they will attend a training day in June.  We are also rebuilding our pastoral outreach to local nursing homes, and we hope you will consider responding to the bulletin insert this week seeking new volunteers.

The need for blood donations has not declined during the pandemic, and so we have scheduled our spring Blood Drive on Saturday 11 June to support the efforts of the American Red Cross to provide for this need.  Please sign up for your appointment time on our parish website.  Another time-saving measure is to pre-register with the Red Cross by completing the RAPIDPass to provide your health history. More information is available in the bulletin.

On Memorial Day, we remember those who have given their lives in service to their country and to freedom—they have made the ultimate sacrifice.  We also remember in prayer those who grieve their loss.

Don’t forget to wear something red to Mass next weekend as we wish “Happy Birthday” to the Church!

Fr. Keith
