The Katharine Konnection

Fr. Keith’s Korner

Fr. Keith’s Korner

This weekend we welcome Fr. Michael McDermott to preside at weekend (and weekday) Masses while I am away.  Fr. Mike is a retired priest from Nebraska who now lives with his sister here in Frederick.  He is currently serving as chaplain at Saint John’s Catholic Prep, and visiting Catholic patients at Frederick Health Hospital, in addition to assisting with Masses in area parishes.

After a two day stop in Iceland, our parish cruise departs Amsterdam this Sunday heading toward Oslo and then tours the various fjords along the Norwegian coastline.  I am journeying with seventy parishioners on a joint parish tour with the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City.  The grandeur of God’s creation will surely be on display!

Our photo sessions continue this week for the 2022 edition of our parish photo directory, and it won’t be complete with you!  Please take a moment to sign up on our website for one of the appointment times that is still available this week (on Thursday through Saturday). You will receive a complimentary 8×10 photo and a free directory for participating.

iServe 2022 is a great local opportunity for teens to serve the community, reflect on the experience, grow in their faith, and have fun with other teens at the same time.  This summer’s session is scheduled for 28-29 July in Hagerstown, and the registration deadline is this Wednesday 13 July.  More information can be found in the bulletin or contact Ana Maria Alvarado.

Every election year, the Maryland Catholic Conference surveys the state’s candidates for political office about their positions regarding issues of interest to Catholics.  The responses of the primary candidates for Governor and the MD General Assembly are listed on a bulletin insert this weekend (with the issues listed on the reverse side).  The Primary Election Day is on Tuesday 19 July. Please remember that the deadline for requesting mail-in ballots is Tuesday 12 July.
