From Monday to Friday this past week the walls of McElroy Hall were rocking as our parish children were learning of God’s great love for them through the beauty of creation. We had about 70 children participating in our Vacation Bible School and are so grateful for all of our dedicated volunteers this summer—both adults and youth! See the bulletin insert this weekend listing so many people who helped– and you can view pictures of the week’s activities on our parish website: www.saintdrexel.org.
Every election year, the Maryland Catholic Conference surveys the state’s candidates for political office about their positions regarding issues of interest to Catholics. The responses of the Republican and Democratic primary candidates for U.S Senate are listed on a bulletin insert this weekend (with the issues listed on the reverse side.) Primary election day is Tuesday 19 July. This information is provided only as assistance for your voting that day, and should not be viewed as an endorsement of any specific candidate(s).
Serving at Mass is a great way for young people to be involved in the liturgy and make a contribution to our worship. Altar servers often start serving at the end of fourth grade and continue through high school. Because our servers keep graduating from high school and going off to college, recruiting new altar servers is a continual task. If you would like to serve your parish in this way, please contact Lisa Wrzesinski through the information listed in this bulletin to participate in the training session scheduled for Thursday 14 July.
July 4th is celebrated annually in our country as “Independence Day”, and we remember the freedom we enjoy as Americans, a freedom not always enjoyed by people in other parts of the world. We can’t help but remember the people of Ukraine at this time. During this holiday, let us pray that the countries of the world can collaboratively find a way to help extend and preserve the freedom of all God’s children.
