The Katharine Konnection

Fr. Keith’s Korner

Fr. Keith’s Korner

Our Faith Formation programs are now gearing up to start in September, and our core programs are presented on the cover of the bulletin this weekend.  For planning purposes, we ask you to register your family as soon as possible on our parish website (www.saintdrexel.org).  Parishioners of all ages are invited to participate in continuing faith formation so that we can fulfill our stated parish mission of “forming loving disciples.”

If you are an adult Catholic who never completed initiation into the Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation, please take note that we are offering preparation sessions this September to be able to celebrate the sacrament in October.  Information about registration is included elsewhere in the bulletin.

We are also organizing special sessions this fall to prepare young people (ages 7-17) who have never been baptized to celebrate this sacrament.  There will be separate classes for those ages 7-11, and those ages 12-17 (who will also prepare for First Communion.  If you would like your children to be welcomed into the Christian Community through Baptism, please consult the informational inserts in the bulletin this weekend.

Our liturgical music program is an important part of the worship experience here at our parish, and many of the musical groups will soon be resuming rehearsals after a well-deserved summer break.  You can find more information about these groups in the bulletin, and you are encouraged to contact our music director Daniel Owens if you wish to become involved.

The social and political situation in Haiti continues to be very unstable and marked by the presence of dangerous gangs, resulting in shortages of supplies and interruption of electricity and other services.  Through our Haiti Fund we were able to assist our sister parish Saint Hubert in installing a generator with solar panels.  You can see photos on our website under “Outreach/Haiti Partnership”.
