At our Finance Committee meeting last week, it was confirmed that we finished the last fiscal year in the black, after two pandemic years when we did not. It appears that we are turning the corner, especially with parishioners returning to Mass. Thanks so much for your continued generous support of our faith community and our various outreach projects. We also thank Frank Kuckels who is retiring after serving for almost a decade on our Finance Committee!
This is the time of year when students are leaving for college, and so we ask God’s blessing on them during their time away from home and pray that they will truly value the educational opportunity that is before them. May they grow significantly in wisdom, knowledge, and personal maturity during the coming academic year, knowing God’s presence and protection.
Our Drexel Voyager group usually organizes a fall retreat day, and this year it will be on 7 September at the beautiful Bons Secours Center. Fr. Nicholas Amato is sure to provide an inspiring day as retreat master. All senior members of our parish are invited to sign up by this Thursday 18 August. Carpooling is being arranged, and more information is in the bulletin.
So many of us wind up providing care for a family member or friend, and this often places an additional burden on our lives. Frederick County is offering a six-week class for family caregivers starting at the end of this month, and a bulletin insert this week has more information. It is important to care for yourself so that you can provide better care for your loved one.
In order for our parish to flourish, we have hundreds of people involved in various ministries, and new volunteers are always welcome! We are presently looking for more catechists (for Foundations of Faith), as well as new members for our Social Activities and Bereavement Ministries. Please respond to the bulletin invitations if you feel that God is calling you to become involved in one of these ministries at this time.
