Our annual Parish Picnic is scheduled for the Sunday after Labor Day (11 September) and is usually a relaxing, late-summer day in Clover Hill Park to ease into the fall routine. You’re asked to sign up in the narthex after Masses over the next three weekends, and to bring a dish that day to share.
As you will recall, we reached 123% of our goal in the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries this year, and became the parish with the highest percentage of registered parishioner participation at 40%! A letter from Archbishop Lori in the bulletin expresses his appreciation for your generosity. Allow me to also thank you for your commitment to supporting the ministries of the wider church. We are able to share our parish rebate this year with Saint Michael Indian School (in Arizona) and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament (both founded by Saint Katharine Drexel) as well as our own parish outreach to immigrants.
A two-sided insert in the bulletin this weekend details our year-long calendar of parish social events. Throughout the year we schedule activities to help bring us closer together as a faith community, so please keep this insert posted at home for future reference. Thanks to Sherry Snyder and our Social Activities leaders who keep these events organized and running with such enthusiasm!
The “Initiation Sacraments” are Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. For Catholics who are baptized as infants, and receive their 1st Communion during elementary school, their initiation into the faith is then completed through celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation in high school. Knowing that today’s high school students have busy lives, our parish Confirmation preparation process is designed to be as flexible as possible. If you would like to join our Confirmation preparation process, please attend an upcoming information session, or contact pastoral associate Ana Maria Alvarado for more information.
