The Katharine Konnection

Dear Parishioners,

I want to offer a word of explanation to the children (and families) who enjoy our Sunday morning Kate’s Kids ministry (ages 3-5) which we had to cancel this past weekend.  Over the weekend, one of the Kate’s Kids windows was broken by a man experiencing mental health difficulties, resulting in a room full of shards of glass .  For the safety of the children, we are hoping to arrange a deep cleaning of the room this week, so that Kate’s Kids can resume as usual next Sunday.

After police officers evaluated the situation, they were able to bring in mental health professionals from their Crisis Unit and escort the man to the hospital to receive the help he obviously needs.  Many thanks to Deacon Jeff (who serves as a Frederick County police chaplain) for his assistance that day, as well as Greg Vaudreuil (and family) for doing an initial cleaning and securing the window temporarily with plywood.
