November holds a special place in church tradition as a time to remember our deceased loved ones.  You are invited to use the form on our parish website by this Monday to submit the names of family members and friends who have died during the past year, so that they can be included in a Litany of Remembrance to be prayed at all Masses on the weekend of 5/6 November.  Also, please RSVP (as indicated in the bulletin) if you plan to attend our Annual Memorial Mass for those who died in the past year on Thursday 3 November at 7:00 PM.

If you picked up an empty “Box of Joy” from the narthex table in recent weeks, you are asked to return your filled box (along with $9 to cover shipping) by next weekend.  Our Katie’s Ladies group appreciates your participation in this project, striving to make a difference in the life of a child in some far-away part of the world this Christmas.

The second collection next weekend is for the improvement of the historic cemetery that is located in the grove of trees between the large parking lot and the school building.  We are now working with the City of Frederick on permitting to develop this area as a prayer garden (with a labyrinth and historical display), and to construct a columbarium for parishioners who wish to inter the ashes of their loved ones on parish grounds.

One of our designees to receive funds from the Annual Appeal each year is the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, the religious order founded by Katharine Drexel in 1891.  A bulletin insert this weekend expresses their appreciation for this kind of support from a parish named in honor of their founder.  Your generosity in the Annual Appeal enables our gift!

Please remember that our rescheduled Blessing of Animals will be this Sunday at 1:00 PM.  I look forward to seeing everyone at our holyday celebration of the Feast of All Saints this week on Tuesday

1 November with Masses at 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM.
