The season of Advent begins next weekend, and I remind you to arrive early for Mass if you would like to join in some quiet time (during a very hectic season) praying the rosary before Advent Masses. New parishioners will be lighting the Advent Wreath each week at Mass, and we will have various Advent reflection books available for home use. There are Advent supplies (wreathes, candles, and calendars) still available in the narthex this weekend. And a bulletin insert contains information about the Blessing of Oplatki (Christmas wafers) next Sunday.
Our Gift Card program is currently generating income (from the vendors–not you!) for our cemetery development fund. If you are planning to use Gift Cards as Christmas presents or stocking stuffers this year, please consider using the order form on our parish website to purchase them. It is important to note that gift card orders are due in the Parish Office by this Monday 21 November to ensure Christmas delivery. A bulletin insert this weekend also offer another way to support our future Memorial Garden/Columbarium through the Katie’s Ladies Christmas wreath raffle. You’ll also find an update from our cemetery committee concerning their progress on various preparatory projects elsewhere in the bulletin this weekend.
Our annual Drexel Voyager Christmas luncheon is a great celebration each year for our senior members and is being held at Dutch’s Daughter on Thursday
1 December. If you plan to attend, please sign up at a narthex table by next Sunday 27 November.
This week, as a nation, we are invited to turn to
God and give thanks for all that we have. You are invited to express that gratitude at our Thanksgiving Day Mass at 9:00 AM. As a visible sign of this gratitude, please bring some items for the food bank to Mass that day– and remember that the offering will go to the Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs, working with the poor right here in Frederick.
