Our Knights of Columbus are distributing baby bottles this weekend to benefit the Frederick CareNet pregnancy care center, who provides pregnancy and childcare support services, as well as post-abortion counselling. The Knights are hoping you will fill the bottle with spare change or some other donation (checks payable to CareNet of Frederick). Please return the bottles to the narthex next weekend.
We haven’t had much snow this winter, but take note that when Frederick County schools are cancelled for snow, there will be no weekday Mass. When schools are opening late, we do have weekday Mass, but when schools are closed because of snow, it generally indicates the streets are less-than-safe for driving. This policy brings clarity as to whether or not weekday Mass will be celebrated, and also attempts to keep parishioners safe. Except for times when the Archbishop cancels Masses in the event of a blizzard, weekend Masses are always celebrated as scheduled.
To assist in your income tax preparation, we will soon be sending out financial statements to all registered households from which we received recordable income during 2022. If you do not receive your statement (or have any questions about your statement), please contact Pat O’Connor in the parish office and she will be happy to help you.
Catholic Schools Week will be observed at our parish next Sunday at the 11:00 AM Mass, and children from various Catholic Schools in Frederick County will be serving in some of the ministries at that Mass. All Catholic School students are reminded to wear their uniforms to Mass next weekend.
A word of thanks to Fr. Mike McDermott for covering weekend and weekday Masses while I am away for my winter reading time. I have been taking time off with the same four priest-classmates for over 30 years, and we all find the time together supportive and rejuvenating. I’m so grateful for their friendship.
