At several Masses this weekend (and next) we are enrolling children who are preparing to receive First Communion this spring. They are studying and praying at home with their parents, and attending several sessions (including a retreat day) here at the parish during their preparation time. For them, let’s make sure the example of our daily living reveals the influence of the Eucharist we receive in all we do.
Our contributions to the Poor Box (along with five other neighboring Catholic parishes) provide the funding for the ministry of our regional conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society (which is located at St. John the Evangelist in downtown Frederick). Included in the bulletin is a financial report I recently received. The report delineates the use of those funds in assisting the poor in our area, and I want to thank those who share in this ministry through your financial support at the end of Mass or through FaithDirect.
Next weekend we join the national observance of World Marriage Day, and a special blessing of all married couples will occur at each Mass. Please plan to attend the same Mass with your spouse to receive this blessing. If you are celebrating a special 5-year wedding anniversary during 2023, please return the form in the bulletin (or on our website) to the parish office by this Monday.
Each winter we collect items for the Emergency Shelter here in Frederick, and so you will find needed items listed on our parish website and on a bulletin insert this weekend. Donations may be dropped at the narthex Gift Card Table any week during the month of February. Your caring is very much appreciated.
The winter training session for new altar servers is scheduled for this coming Saturday 11 February in the nave of the church. Young people in grades 5-12 are encouraged to serve their faith community in this way. Please pre-register for this training using the information listed elsewhere in the bulletin.
