Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Feb 12, 2023

Officers were elected at the latest meeting of the 2023 Pastoral Council, and so we offer our gratitude and congratulations to: Wilford Graham (President), Laurel Swencki (Vice-President), Karen Roebuck (Recording Secretary), and Francine Kasongo (Corresponding Secretary).  This important body meets monthly and advises me, as pastor, regarding major parish decisions and future planning.  Please keep the members of the Council and its leadership in your prayers as they serve our faith community.

After a preliminary meeting with the City of Frederick regarding the development of our new Memorial Garden and Columbarium, we are arranging for the necessary studies (archeological, storm water management, etc.) necessary to secure a building permit.  Many thanks to members of our Scout Troop who moved a load of rock out of the cemetery area last Saturday to store elsewhere for future use.

The Archbishop has given permission for parishes to reinstate communion from the cup after the season of Lent.  This is the last of the liturgical Covid restrictions to be removed. And so, during Lent, we will be recruiting Eucharistic Ministers for training.  Please respond to the invitation if you feel you are being called to serve your parish in this way.

Some have asked which flags were donated by our parishioners for our narthex in conjunction with the Feast of the Epiphany.  We were able to add one new flag this year representing the Dominican Republic. Also, don’t forget that our Environmental Team is collecting used batteries every week at the Gift Card table– you are only asked to tape the ends for safety.

As we celebrate World Marriage Day, it is so inspiring to see the couples (on the bulletin insert) who are married 60, 65 and even 70 years. Congratulations!

And I remind you that needed items for the Emergency Shelter in Frederick may be dropped at the Gift Card Table any weekend during the month of February.

Fr. Keith
