As we continue the 50-day celebration of the Easter season, we are treated to events at Mass that we fasted from during the season of Lent. Please rejoice with me as we celebrate special occasions in the life of our parish families, such as baptisms and first communions. It is clearly a joyful time in the life of many of our parishioners as they come into fuller union with Christ through the Sacraments. The inspiring testimony of Tiya Cornejo, given when she celebrated the Initiation Sacraments at the Easter Vigil last weekend (along with Lisa O’Connell), is also included as a bulletin insert this weekend.
Before a pandemic disruption, we had a regional ministry of Eucharistic Ministers from various parishes bringing communion to patients in Frederick Health Hospital. The hospital has allowed this ministry to resume, and a Saturday morning training session is being scheduled for June by the Pastoral Care Department. If you sense the Lord calling you to this ministry to the sick, please contact me so that I can register you for the training. So many have testified in the past to how much they have grown spiritually by being involved in this Eucharistic ministry.
As you heard in the presentation before Mass last weekend, our Parish Mission is scheduled for three nights on Sunday 23 April, Monday 24 April, and Tuesday 25 April. I encourage you to mark those dates on your family calendar in order to provide yourself the opportunity to grow spiritually that week as we learn about “Seeing with Easter Eyes.”
This weekend we are celebrating our relationship with our partner-parish, St. Hubert (in Ennery, Haiti) with a pre-Mass presentation and additional bulletin information. Our partnership continues to grow over the years, and it’s a visible sign of our membership in the Body of Christ, and our parish mission of “giving selflessly.” Thanks for your generous support of our 2nd collection for Haiti next weekend.
