Our Parish Mission is scheduled for three nights this week on Sunday 23 April, Monday 24 April, and Tuesday 25 April. I encourage as many parishioners as possible to join in these days of prayer and reflection in order to learn about “Seeing with Easter Eyes.” Well-known speaker Mike Tenney is sure to inspire us with new spiritual insights and ways to live out our faith more fully. Hope to see you there!
You’ll notice that we are currently at 81% of goal for the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. We designate funds from our rebate to assist Saint Michael’s Indian School (in Arizona) and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament– both of whom were founded by our patron Saint Katharine Drexel—as well as funding our own parish immigrant outreach. If your envelope is still on your desk at home, please help us reach our goal! Envelopes are also available at the Welcome Center in the church narthex.
There is a lot of discussion about the issue of race taking place across our country these days. To facilitate a conversation at our own parish, our Social Justice Committee has arranged for a series of Zoom sessions during the month of May entitled “Honest Conversations about Race” facilitated by trained members of other Catholic parishes. A final in-person session in the narthex on 1 June will conclude the conversation. Please register for the Zoom sessions using the link found on our parish website, the bulletin insert, or the Katharine Konnection you will receive.
Our Environmental Stewardship Committee is coordinating an exciting Recycling Event on our parking lot next Saturday morning. They will be accepting (among other things) paper to be shredded, shoes and clothing that aren’t wearable, electronics, and broken appliances—as well as sponsoring a native plant sale. You will be able to drive in and drop off—so don’t miss the opportunity to do some spring housecleaning and help our planet at the same time!
