The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated at all the Masses next weekend.  We invite parishioners who are seriously ill, anticipating surgery, experiencing the effects of aging, or suffering from illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, alcohol or drug abuse, depression, etc. to come forward after the homily for the laying on of hands and anointing with the oil of the sick.

October is celebrated nationally as “Respect Life” month.  Pope Francis has regularly stressed that all members of the Church can bring healing to the world by upholding the beauty of human life, as well as by sharing God’s unfailing mercy with others in a variety of ways. Thanks to all those who are participating in the local 40 Days for Life program this year.

Our Gift Card program generates a lot of cash (from the vendors–not you!) that is currently being designated for the development of the old cemetery on our property into the new Saint Katharine Drexel Memorial Garden.  If you are planning to use Gift Cards as Christmas presents or stocking stuffers this year, please consider using the bulletin order form this weekend to purchase them.  Forms are also available on our parish website.  Orders are due in the Parish Office by 20 November to ensure Christmas delivery.

Wednesday 4 October is the Feast of St. Francis, who led the people of his time into a greater reverence for all of God’s creation. In his honor, we will celebrate the annual Blessing of Animals next weekend on Sunday 8 October at 1:30 PM on the church plaza.  As a means of evangelization, please invite your friends or neighbors (of any religion, or none) to bring their pets for a blessing– all are welcome!

The need for blood donations is unending, and so we have scheduled our fall Blood Drive on Saturday

7 October.  Please sign up for your timed appointment on our parish website. More information (including pre-registering with RAPIDPass) is in the bulletin.
